The New Wave of Jazz Will Sweep through West Philly
On July 15th, about 5,000 people flocked to Saunders Park Greene as People's Emergency Center (PEC), Producer's GUILD, and Lancaster Avenue - West Philadelphia, PA hosted the 11th Annual Lancaster Ave Jazz and Arts Festival. Our line up was incredible: Jaleel Shaw headlined, Universal African Dance & Drum Ensemble, Phoenix Mystique and Allene Foster, Matthew Clayton, Lee Mo, V. Shayne Frederick, Josh Lawrence, and Nazir Ebo. The Youth Jazz Master's Class also graced the stage with incredible renditions of Jaleel Shaw's difficult compositions.
Along Saunders Ave, over 30 artisan vendors sold incredible handmade items (see full list on website) as we exhibited the artwork of Rebecca Rose, Ellen Tiberino, Brian Basemore, Tyrone Frisby, Jerry Puryear, Traction Company and Philadelphia Assembled! Thank you to all of our sponsors (see full list on website), resource vendors, raffle donators, the 16th Police District, SoundsKrazy, Bouncy's On Wheels, Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, KMS Fotografie, WorkReady, University City District, University City Review, Corner Bakery Cafe 38th & Market, Public Workshop, Free Library of Philadelphia, all of our volunteers, committee members and staff who worked tirelessly to make this happen. You make this neighborhood amazing and we can't wait for next year!
